B.C. New Democrat statement in celebration of Pakistan Day

VICTORIABruce Ralston, the New Democrat spokesperson for Immigration and Multiculturalism, released the following statement in celebration of Pakistan Day.

On behalf of John Horgan and British Columbia’s New Democrat caucus, I would like to extend my best wishes to all those celebrating Pakistan Day.

“Pakistan Day commemorates the Lahore Resolution, a major step in the journey towards Pakistan’s independence in 1947. It is also known as Republic Day, as the country’s first constitution was adopted on March. 23, 1956.”

“This is a great time to acknowledge the immense, significant and long-lasting contributions to British Columbia the Pakistani community have made.  Our culture and society have reaped profound benefits thanks to the hard work and ingenuity of the Pakistani community.

“I hope British Columbians will take the opportunity to acknowledge those contributions and join in the celebrations taking place.

“On behalf of our entire caucus, Happy Pakistan Day.”
